My Difference
When the dream is over you’ve settled down,
Accepting urban stability,
Whatever it is that can keep you afloat
In today’s society.
Often you’ll look back on your life,
Perhaps you’ll think what could have been,
If only you had listened to desire,
Instead of logical self within.
But at the very least you have your house,
Complete with uniformity,
A trophy of all your hard earned work,
The work that’s named conformity.
Now I must depart from page,
Perhaps leaving marks of ignorance,
But in years so far from now,
I will have chosen my confidence,
That which still holds all my dreams,
And that will be my difference.
